Monitor Tech Full Time Days Position Summary
Performs various activities regarding electrocardiograms on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring.
Responsibilities
Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electrocardiograph machine or stress test machine. Reviews patient's record and instructs patients prior to procedures. Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings. Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation. Maintains EKG equipment and supplies. Runs a strip per department protocol. Maintains telemetry documentation of reported information. Notifies Biomed of any equipment problems. Assists in training new Monitor Techs.
THE MONITOR TECH FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION Certification Preferred: Specialty areas Basic Life Support (BLS).-AHA required
EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Completion of basic EKG examination if not already completed.
WORK EXPERIENCE Required: Previous experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech or Monitor Tech Trainee. or equivalent. Preferred: One (1) year experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting.
