This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Registered Nurse for the Electrophysiology, Catheterization Lab will be responsible for monitoring patients during Cath and EP procedures, including continuous ECG and hemodynamic monitoring, identification of cardiac arrythmias, responses to medications, titration of vasoconstrictive IV medications and treatments. The following is a list of skills and characteristics which are essential attributes for this assignment: The RN will be on call for the cardiac cath lab and needs to arrive within 30 minutes of notification. On Call rooms will be available for use. Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2-years' current experience in Cardiac catheterization/Electrophysiology is preferable. ACLS is required. Professional practice includes demonstrated skills in managing moderate sedation and medication administration with appropriate monitoring, assessment, and documentation utilizing all safety precautions. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician for all emergent and non-emergent procedures in Cath and EP labs, and or TEE. Must possess knowledge of IABP, function of a transvenous pacemaker, and new technological equipment utilized in the Cath Lab. Must function with a high degree of teamwork, utilize critical thinking, and demonstrate exceptional communication skills with all intra and interdisciplinary partners. Must have physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures and the ability and knowledge to perform in nursing care emergencies.
