Summary:
Assumes accountability and overarching responsibility for the coordination and delivery of nursing care for patients across the continuum of invasive cardiovascular procedures.
Responsibilities:
1.Delivers excellent quality care to the patients and families through the nursing process and anticipating the patients, families, physicians and other members of the cardiac clinical team.
2.Develops advanced level of knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology in relation to cardio-thoracic surgery, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiac catheterization as well as electrophysiology study, ablation and pacemaker/defibrillator insertion.
3.Provides pre-procedure assessment for outpatients scheduled in the Cath Lab and serve in the scrubbing and circulating role in both the cardiac OR and Cath Lab.
4.Takes call that is shared equally among the other department Nurse Clinicians.
5.Additional responsibilities include assisting in other clinical areas within the Heart Center, research and maintaining databases, teaching, program development and other administrative functions in order to further the mission and vision of the Heart Center.
6.Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise
1. Proficiency with equipment and supplies used in cardiac invasive procedures is required.
2. Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Epic EMR experience preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: BSN required. MSN preferred.
- Certification: Registered Nurse licensure. Pediatric Advanced Life Support provider required. Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider required.
- OR Nursing experience required.
- Years of experience: Two (2) years pediatric cardiovascular nursing experience preferred.
