This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The Bronchoscopy Lab provides both inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Duties include but not limited to: Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to work effectively in a team setting. Computer skills for documentation in the electronic health record and word processing; and annual competencies as determined at the unit level. Possess knowledge and abilities to perform high quality interventional procedures in accordance with policies and procedures defining preparation of radiological equipment, physiological monitoring, and related equipment and devices used in this area. Administers moderate sedation with appropriate patient monitoring, assessment, and documentation to patients undergoing pulmonary procedures and functions as a technical lead for the lab. Responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and preparing of the equipment/instrumentation for the procedures. Plans, organizes, and when appropriate, directs the activities of others to complete assignments in a safe and timely manner. Provides inpatient and outpatient diagnostic/ therapeutic procedures in the Bronchoscopy Lab and the Operating Room (OR). Administers and monitors moderate sedation for patients undergoing various levels of sedation including General Anesthesia, MAC, and Moderate Sedation. Recovery of patients following sedation is included; Assisting with clinical procedures including: thoracentesis, pleurx drain placement/removal, chest tube insertion, bronchoscopy/rigid bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), electromagnetic bronchial navigation (EMBN) and fiducial marker placement. Functions in scrub and/or circulating roles within the Operating Room and Bronchoscopy Lab. Serves as a primary nurse for a defined group of patients for the pre, intra, and post procedural encounter, when assigned.
