The role you’ll contribute:
The Advanced Technician III performs patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the charge nurse or ANM, and/or physician or their designee. Performs general clinical, non-clinical duties necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the nursing unit consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures. Initiates Nurse Panels and utilizes age-specific competencies in the care of all patient populations. Adheres to the AdventHealth corporate compliance plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

(Clinical Patient Care:
At the direction of the RN, ED Physician or Advanced Practice Provider:
Gathers objective patient information.
Initiates Nurse Panels i.e., limited lab and radiology.
Initiates oxygen therapy protocols.
Completes 12-Lead EKG.
Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies RN.
Performs venipuncture
Inserts peripheral IV’s, hangs IV fluid without medication and maintains IV flow rates. Observes and documents condition of infusion site. Removes IV lines as directed by RN.
Transports patients to inpatient observation departments as per AH Policy 100.522.
Assists with procedures and exams, i.e., set up and clean up for sutures, pelvic exams, lumbar punctures, application of orthopedic splints and casting, etc. Applies slings, sling-n-swathe, finger splints, application of dressings, etc.
Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations.

At the direction of the ED Physician or Advanced Practice Provider:
Performs accurate order entry into EPIC
Executes verbal order fortreatments limited to nursing panels.
Administrative:
Maintains (room and work area organization and stocking levels) per 5 S principles. Maintains rooms and work area cleanliness
Manages phone calls, notifies physician of all back results, orders diets, etc. Relieves HUC as assigned
Performs administrative duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit
Advanced Technician III does not: perform skills that, according to state and hospital policy, are to be performed by the RN only; perform assessments; add IV additives to IV fluids; hang blood components; sign off doctors’ orders; give report; change rates of any medicated IVF; or maintain an independent patient care assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One year ED or pre-hospital paramedic experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current valid State of Florida license as a Paramedic
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Preferred Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Associate of Science (AS) degree in EMS or Fire Science
Critical care paramedic program completion
