The Marion VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the CIS/ARK/Tele ICU Coordinator position within Medicine Surgical Specialty Nursing Service located in Marion, IL. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Preferred Experience: BSN preferred. OR or ICU experience within the last five (5) years and 10 years experience as a Registered Nurse. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Provides appropriate care for patients generally ranging in age from 18 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnosis, physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs. General responsibilities include: Testing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting computerization needs related to the integration of a virtual Intensive Care Unit environment (Tele-ICU), Critical Care Clinical Information System (CIS) and Anesthesia Record Keeping (ARK) including the Evansville Heath Care Center (EHCC) documentation systems for Anesthesia and Post Anesthesia Care Unit areas. Ensures accurate transfer of data, assisting with designing work screens and workflow. Developing and maintaining reports and assisting with new modifications. Acts as a liaison/educator for staff. Responsible for completion of data reports and assisting with educating bedside staff on procedures and documentation compliance. Participates on service and medical center committees to improve nursing practice and care. Performs assessment of staff learning needs and is responsible to ensure staff receive adequate orientation to facilitate compliance with patient care standards. Demonstrates leadership through developing and coordinating performance improvement projects to improve quality of care and organizational processes engaging staff. Providing education that may include in-services, orientation, continuing education, annual reviews, and staff development. PLEASE NOTE: These positions require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications due to having 24-hour telemetry monitoring capability.
