You Will Be Responsible For:
Ability to educate patients on pulmonary topics including respiratory medications, nebulizers, non-invasive ventilation, home secretion clearance vests, home oxygen, CPAP/BIPAP use and troubleshooting, and respiratory disease processes.
Explain and promote pulmonary rehab to potential patients.
Demonstrates excellent verbal phone skills to conduct phone calls, insurance verification, and patient scheduling.
Demonstrates proficiency in using Cerner and Athena to schedule patient appointments, find previous testing and notes, and send orders.
Notifies patient’s physicians as needed with any concerns or major changes in patient status.
Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.
Perform respiratory care procedures according to physician orders, department policy/procedure, and patient care plan; including pulmonary function tests, six-minute walk tests, and spirometry.
Enter orders for and perform chest x-rays as needed.
What You Will Need:
Associate degree or Graduate of a Technical School
Up to 1 Year of Experience
Kansas Respiratory Therapist License
BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
Pulmonary Function Testing
CPAP/BIPAP initiation and troubleshooting
The Respiratory Therapist provides direct respiratory care to patients in all areas of the hospital as outlined in Pulmonary Services procedure manual. Is knowledgeable in providing and evaluating the routine as well as critical care modes of respiratory care. Responsible for the effective and optimal administration of modalities based upon assessment and evaluation. Provides recommendations and/or changes to care based on patient’s current status.
