This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Registered Nurse assigned to the Medical Surgical Unit is a professional nurse with a broad-based clinical knowledge that enables him/her to effectively provide care to a veteran population with widely diverse medical and surgical diagnoses. Accountable for all elements of the nursing process Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components Responsible for coordination of care focused on the veteran's transition through the continuum of care Responsible for veteran and family education Responsible for veteran self-management after discharge Responsible for supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction Considers all characteristics of the individual including age, life stage, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences to provide optimum veteran centered care Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to positively influence veteran care outcomes Cares for remote Telemetry patients Basic symptom recognition for cardiac arrhythmias Obtain 12 Lead EKG Properly place five lead MP 40 remote telemetry pack Maintain and trouble shoot remote telemetry pack (MP40) Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: 7:30am-8:00pm with alternating weekends and holidays Telework: Not Available.
