The Physician Assistant vacancy located at the West Roxbury, MA campus is a full-time 40 hour per week position. The Physician Assistant vacancy located at the Bedford, MA campus is a part-time 30 hour per week position. The VA Boston Healthcare System, the largest consolidated facility in VISN 1, encompasses 4 main campuses and 6 outpatient clinics within a 40-mile radius of the greater Boston area. The consolidated facility consists of the Jamaica Plain Campus, the West Roxbury Campus, located on the Dedham line; Brockton Campus and the Bedford Enclave in Bedford. In addition to the 3 main medical centers, there are 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The Cardiology Physician Assistant positions are located in Medical Service - at the Boston Healthcare System. One position will be located at the West Roxbury campus , and the other position will be located at the Bedford campus. The Roxbury campus position is Full-Time at 40 hours per week. The Bedford campus position is Part-Time at 30 hours per week. The Department of Medicine of the Veterans Administration Boston Healthcare System is currently recruiting to hire two Physician Assistants (PAs) with advanced clinical knowledge and competence to function in a variety of roles. She/he is accountable for the management and evaluation of patients under her/his care. She/he holds a scope of practice in collaboration with a physician. The candidate selected for the either Campus may have potential responsibilities at any of the other VA Boston campuses (Brockton, Jamaica Plain, or the CBOCs). The incumbent provides and oversees the care of cardiology patients under the supervision of Cardiology faculty. The primary role for each Cardiology NP is to provide care for Cardiology patients at his/her primary site (either Bedford or West Roxbury) and to work closely with the Cardiology attending staff responsible for these patients. The incumbent is supervised by the Cardiology attending staff with ultimate responsibility of the Chief, Cardiology Section or the designee. S/he will provide a broad range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative services as these pertain to the patient care practices within the Section, in full conformity with the mission of VA Boston Healthcare System. The position entails collaborative work in a team setting. The care provided may include admitting and discharging patients who undergo elective cardiac procedures, triaging admissions, inpatient care service when patients are admitted and during discharge to assure smooth transitions and liaison with Primary Care Providers and consultants, tele-health and home care agencies. The candidate provides guidance and continuity for the cardiology residents in their provision of care to patients. She/he will help the resident teams to address all aspects of care by the promotion of safe practices as well as the encouragement of effective use of V.A. resources. In addition, the incumbent conducts and reports (under the supervision of Cardiology faculty) stress tests and may also supervise the cardiac rehab program and manage cardiology patients in an outpatient clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to: Admit and discharge patients who undergo elective cardiac procedures, triaging admissions, inpatient care service when patients are admitted and during discharge to assure smooth transitions and liaison with Primary Care Providers and consultants, tele-health and home care agencies. Provide guidance and continuity for the cardiology fellows or trainees in their provision of care to patients. Assist fellow or trainee teams to address all aspects of care by the promotion of safe practices as well as the encouragement of effective use of V.A. resources. Conduct and report (under the supervision of Cardiology faculty) stress tests and may also supervise the cardiac rehab program Manage a panel of Cardiology patients in an outpatient clinic (primarily at West Roxbury or Bedford).
