New York Harbor, Manhattan Campus is seeking Physician Assistant with a specialty in Cardiology. Duties include ongoing evaluation and assessment of inpatients and outpatients seen within a specialty clinic setting, and includes management of required labs, medications, consultation and/or follow-up planning on known cardiology pathology. Physicians Assistant (PA) in this role will provide comprehensive guideline directed evidence-based care to patients within all areas of general Cardiology independently and in collaboration with Cardiologists. This position is one of a group of Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers who will need to practice primarily, (but not exclusively), in consultative cardiology - responding to cardiology consult requests from within the hospital. Primary functions of this role includes: Provide comprehensive guideline directed evidence based care to patients with general cardiology medical issues Implement assessment, diagnosis and management of cardiac patients with complex co-morbidities Obtain health histories, perform physical exams and documents findings in the medical record. Order appropriate diagnostic procedures, and act on results Prescribes individualized pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for treatment of cardiac conditions and related medical problems for the promotion of quality of life, wellness, and improved outcomes. Educate patient, significant others and affiliated medical center staff on health care issues (ie. medications, diet, lifestyle changes and follow up). Facilitate the completion of informed consent prior to cardiac procedures Admit and discharge patients to OBS status post invasive cardiac procedures Mentor APRN students Acts as consultant and resource to other departments within and outside the medical center regarding Cardiology, and specifically cardiology consultation patients. Provides cardiology focused in-services and education programs to medical center staff and affiliates. Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
