Fairview Health Services is looking for a Nursing Station Technician - Tele Tech (NST - Tele Tech) for the Medical Surgical Unitat Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville, MN) to work under direction of nursing personnel to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator.
About this position:
This position is working evening (3pm-1130pm) shift
64 hours per pay period, 8 shifts working as an NST or Tele Tech
Every other weekend rotation (F, S, S)

The NST Tele Tech position assumes delegated responsibilities as appropriate, and adheres to all relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
NST duties will include:
Patient cares with includes vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights and transporting
The NST also will help take care of the environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit
Tele Tech duties will include:
Performs continuous, accurate observations and interpretations of rhythms while promoting safe monitoring
Demonstrates appropriate documentation and communication
Demonstrates proper maintenance and inventory of all equipment
Identifies and enters the patient information. Measures and reports intervals of the cardiac rhythm and other parameters at designated intervals. Reports significant changes in monitor patterns and follows the scope of practice expectations.
Accurately recognizes and reports life threatening arrhythmias (i.e. Asystole, Vfib, Vtach) following department protocols.
Assure constant coverage of patient monitoring station.
Demonstrates yearly competency in skills necessary to ensure adequate knowledge of ECG interpretation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.

BLS for healthcare providers
Basic ECG training, reading and interpretation at time of hire or within 30 days
Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position (exception: M Health Fairview West Bank Nursing Assistants) or Current enrollment in an RN program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
Previous Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Nursing Assistant (NA) or Nursing Station Technician (NST) experience or currently a nursing student with at least one semester of nursing clinicals completed
Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures
Strong customer service, phone and interpersonal communication skills
