Responsible for implementing and supervising exercise programs, providing education on safe and prudent exercise principles, developing and implementing a Healthy Steps program and communicating with the rehabilitation staff and other health care providers as part of a comprehensive health care team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives referrals to Healthy Steps program, contacts potential participants and arranges intakes.
Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with participant status, policy, and/or physician recommendations.
Performs exercise with program participants demonstrating correct body position and technique, along with proper use of equipment to prevent injury and to follow exercise prescription.
Obtain weight of patients and clients.
Obtain vital signs of each patient two to three times each exercise session.
Assist with emergency care according to policy and within expertise/certification.
Reports any new changes in participants condition to nurse navigator.
Monitors program participants and reports inappropriate responses to prescribed exercise. Adds or eliminates exercise as needed.
Documents initial and daily assessment data in participant’s records.
Utilizes educational techniques consistent with the principles of teaching and learning.
Oversees Exercise assistants.
Collect payments from Healthy Steps and cardiac maintenance patients and enter data in payment record.
Maintain therapeutic and uplifting environment with upbeat attitude.
Correlating appropriate interventions based on interpretations of dysrhythmias 12 lead ECT, GXT, diagnostic testing.
Lead specialized programs after appropriate training.

Bachelors degree in an allied health field or cardiovascular clinical area.
Masters degree preferred.
Minimum of 6 months/600 hours recent and relevant experience in a clinical exercise program.
Current BLS OR;
An equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
