You Will Be Responsible For:
The Manager of Cancer Prevention Research leads efforts across AdventHealth Research Institute to support and facilitate the effective integration and translation of cancer prevention, cancer care delivery, health services, and cancer survivorship research throughout community based AdventHealth medical facilities across the state of Florida. Guides an extended team of Practice-Based Research Network Liaisons conducting multilevel research projects focused at the system, practice, provider, and/or patient levels. Responsible for building an internal and external awareness on the importance of research of varying study designs (e.g., system, practice/provider, or patient-level interventions, observational studies) and ensuring representation of various racial and ethnic backgrounds in non-therapeutic prevention, care delivery and survivorship research studies. Identify, develop, and own process changes and activities required to increase participation in AdventHealth non-therapeutic clinic-based research to advance quality of care and health equity.
Through collaboration with community practices, research peers, external partners, and key community/organizational stakeholders, ensures efforts are made to promote cancer-relevant research that addresses health problems and treatments important to primary care providers, patients, and the health care delivery system and communities at large. Promotes and champions integration of research within community practices and clinics. Assists Principal Investigators and research staff with the recruitment of clinic-based study participants and works to ensure that underrepresented minorities are represented in research studies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Psychology, Public Health or related field and 2 years’ experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to build strategic partnerships with community practices
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and practice staff, research investigators and staff, community members, and external partners
Ability to apply analytical approach to problem solving, obtain and analyze facts, and apply sound judgement
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical or research environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively, and in an organized and timely manner
Knowledge of HIPAA data protection and patient advocacy or similar awareness of ethical treatment of participants in research
Ability to accept direction and respond to the changing needs of clinical research units.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet knowledge and skills
Ability to lead a high performing team of community liaisons.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing or related field
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) (per the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA))
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Skills and experience related to program implementation
Meet with CSO on a regular basis to discuss, plan and assist with research operations, growth and development in connection with community practices.
Establish and cultivate new business models and/or joint ventures as appropriate to meet the changing demands of the healthcare marketplace and oncology research.
Develop trainings for AdventHealth Medical Group and other community practices to relay the importance of cancer prevention and control research and its contribution to improving quality of care.
Responsible for implementing an internal communication plan regarding the dissemination of the vision and direction to key operations stakeholders across the organization, including but not limited to research faculty, clinical programs, AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) leadership, Nursing, Patient Access.
Work with key stakeholders to develop an external marketing and communications plan to increase recruitment in non-therapeutic research studies in the areas of cancer prevention, cancer care delivery, health services and cancer survivorship.
Actively work with Principal Investigators at AdventHealth and Moffitt Cancer Center and research leaders to build relationships and collaborate with community practices to develop research questions that are relevant to the community.
Build an infrastructure to support open, trustworthy communications between community practices and research representatives.
Directly interfaces with physicians, nurses and practice managers to enhance and drive oncology research strategy.
Obtain practice level information (e.g., clinic staffing, patient volume, patient demographics) and data (e.g., baseline rates of screening) to support research grant applications.
Provide assistance with navigating the regulatory requirements for non-therapeutic research studies.
Develop SOPs for patient recruitment in community based primary care practices considering areas such as identification, clinic flow, and clinic staff involvement.
Influence leaders, physicians, and peers to change internal culture and behaviors to strengthen our understanding of disease disparities, influence of determinants of health and its effects on the health and well-being of diverse multicultural and multilingual populations.
Use existing relationships and evaluate new opportunities to collaborate with patient advocate organizations and institutions to broaden base knowledge about clinical research in underrepresented communities and diverse investigators.
Establish benchmarking within and outside AdventHealth, as well as within and outside clinical operations, in order to identify and facilitate best practices sharing across clinical teams and external partners.
Maintain, improve, and implement a multi-year strategy; develop detailed roadmap and action plan.
Develop and implement metrics to track progress of key milestones in the context of multiple deadlines to ensure timely completion of steps and to identify gaps in project plan.
