To collaborate with department managers and/or unit educators in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff. Assess trends in patient care, health care, delivery systems, nursing education and nursing practice to determine their impact on the goals of the Nursing department. Assess individual learning needs of nursing personnel consistent with job descriptions. Implement planned educational experience utilizing self or other content specialist and document cost of implementation. Provide on-going evaluation of educational programs and appropriately alter and/or modify program content as needed. Promote high standards of nursing care through role modeling and educational programs that are consistent with nursing policy and procedures and incorporate ANA standards.

JOB SUMMARY CHEST PAIN COORDINATOR
The Clinical Educator will serve as the facility Chest Pain Coordinator and will share responsibility for coordinating program development in conjunction with cardiac service line leaders to ensure objectives, outcomes and goals are achieved. This role will report to the Critical Care Director.
The Chest Pain Coordinator is responsible for assuring evidenced based standards of care for cardiac patients are met as required by the Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
The Chest Pain Coordinator is also responsible for program development, planning, organizing, implementation, assessment, patient flow and performance improvement of the service line.
The Chest Pain coordinator is responsible for hospital service utilization, staff education and training in partnership with service line leaders.
He/She will monitor the quality performance of the cardiac program staff and physicians.
He/She will function as a role model in the use of nursing process and develops, introduces and evaluates new approaches to cardiac evidenced based standards of care.
This is typically a day shift positions, due to the nature of the position and staff educational needs.
Adheres to the Customer Service Standards of Texas Regional Medical Center while representing the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department and complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Utilizes computerized punch time system correctly.
Completes annual education requirements and maintains regulatory requirements.
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears identification while on duty.
Basic computer skills, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Basic knowledge of audio visual equipment
Must be proficient in computer skills, EMR implemented devices and equipment in patient care areas.
Understanding of principles of adult learning.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, excellent verbal and writing abilities.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.
BSN required and Masters preferred. With three (3) to five (5) years of varied acute care nursing experience. Current BLS, ACLS certification.
Cardiac nursing experience is desired.
Certified CPR. PALS, ACLS instructor or becomes certified within one year.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages preferred.
