Work Hours/Shift: Full Time Days

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

In collaboration with the Nurse Director, the Manager is responsible for:

Customer Service: 

1.   Nurse Leader rounding for patient satisfaction

2.   Patient experience data review for performance improvement

3.   Evaluating patient/employee interaction and coachesâ™ staff on opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction

4.   Service recovery and follow-up with employees

Financial Management

1.   Completes departmental payroll

2.   Assists Director with departmental financial review

3.   Reviews productivity reports and adjusts staffing as needed

4.   Communication with Employees

5.   Conducts departmental meetings. 

Regulatory Compliance

1.   Compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards to assure compliance

2.   Compliance with Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation

3.   Compliance with Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA)

Human Resources

1.   Assists Director in assuring daily staffing needs are achieved

2.   Participates in hiring

3.   Participates in progressive counseling

4.   Participates in development of job descriptions

5.   Participates in evaluating staff performance at probationary and annual appraisals

Employee Competency

1.   Provides initial orientation for new employees upon hire

2.   Responsible for review and collection of all new hire competency paperwork

Performance Improvement

1.   Assists Director with ongoing departmental Performance Improvement

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·    Previous two (2) years nursing management experience

·    Thorough understanding of hospital policies, procedures and legal aspects of acute care nursing

·    Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

·    Basic computer skills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

·    Previous experience with Cerner electronic medical record

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·    Three yearsâ™ experience in acute patient care

·    BSN or higher degree

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

·          Registered Nurse with licensure in the State of Florida

·          Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and others as required by department

·          Certification in area of specialty within two years of accepting position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

In collaboration with the Nurse Director, the Manager is responsible for all the following duties and responsibilities.  These include, but are not limited to customer service, financial management, regulatory compliance, human resource processes, staff competency, performance improvement, policy/procedure development and compliance, and regular communication with department staff.  Under the direction of the Nurse Director, the Manager provides leadership and oversight with all unit functions and patient care issues on a day-to-day basis.
